The Unbiased Truth



TSMD is the only truly unbiased cosmetic products and procedures review site. The expert panel of cosmetic physicians and surgeons from a broad range of medical specialties ensures fair play. We do not serve to protect any particular physician's interest nor do we serve the businesses that sell products. We simply exist to bring TRUTH and FACTS to a controversial industry. We are not a blog driven site. Frankly, we don't ask for individual opinions as we can't discern who is a company representative with an ulterior motive. We don't ask for physicians that represent medical devices to chime in with their biased opinions.

It is estimated that over $2 Billion/annually are wasted on "well marketed" "FDA approved" yet "ineffective" products and procedures. Contrary to popular belief, physicians are not the ones reaping the financial rewards of this type of system. Manufacturers make money from the sale of products and your government collects tax revenues from the sale of those products. The manufacturers of the products and medical devices market directly to the consumers to build the BUZZ around these sometimes exaggerated "claims" of highly effective products/devices/lasers, prompting the consumer to seek physicians to purchase these products. When the products fail to deliver, the consumer asks the physician why the product didn't work and inquires regarding a refund. Both the consumer and the physician are duped. Responsibility lies with both parties. Consumers need to realize that OTC (over the counter) products are sold over the counter because they can't really harm you, i.e. they are safe, but they don't work well either. Prescriptions are scrutinized by the government for safety and EFFICACY. Water is safe and if bottled, labeled and well marketed, could be sold to improve acne or grow hair. Nothing could be farther from the TRUTH. Consumers need to TRUST the opinion of their physicians and not the company selling the products. Physicians need to provide a realistic management of a consumer's expectations. We will discuss the SCIENCE behind some products and procedures and we will provide unbiased reviews of categories to best guide moral and ethical consumption of the most effective choices in each category.
